who's who at the Karate Institute

Pioneers
These students are what the basement is for the house.  They are the foundation for the school.  We are so proud of their accomplishment that they are awarded an eternal stone.
The biggest city or the tallest building was built one stone at the time.
Zanaiya
Mas Oyama in a low fighting stance.  As in Garyu his signature kata.  The first and only kata to use such a low stance and Ushiro Geri back kick.  Two techniques that demonstrate confidence and power.

Pioneers
For those who are getting acquainted with the school through this book, when you come to the school for the first time, you will see a wall that I call the Pioneers Wall.  On that wall you will find the pictures of the student that I call the school pioneers.   They are pioneers because they have started with me at the previous location and stayed witch made it possible for me to move.  By now you know the rattle there is no school without students.  The number of students that I had was sufficient enough to open a new location and attract new students.  Especially after training on the park for two months and using a cold studio dance floor for five months thanks to the goodness of Kathy Renma the owner of Applause Dance Center. These students are what the basement is for the house.  They are the foundation of this school.  They are examples students for the new one.  They show the way and the how by their conduct and by their accomplishment as well.   Two weeks after we move in, we went to our first tournament in New York city and came back with five winning trophies: first place in kata, first place in fighting, second place in kata and two third place in kata.

There are a few people that have been with us for a long time but not consistent with their presence. That is why I feel they are not part of the foundation as well as they are part of the floor.
